What we do

ECCI provides the place and space for ‘low carbon leaders’ to work together to deliver a low carbon future

ECCI is a hub for the knowledge, innovation and skills required to create a low carbon economy. Located in Edinburgh, Scotland’s political centre and capital city, and building upon the best ideas from around the world, the ECCI provides the place and space for ‘low carbon leaders’ and networks from business, finance and the public sector to work together to deliver a low carbon future.

Within the hub, the ECCI has three clear functions:

Enterprise & Innovation:

Innovation is at the core of all ECCI's activity. We can only create a low carbon future with the right people, ideas, vision, technology and resources to make it happen. ECCI brings governments, businesses, communities and academics together, creating an environment where these groups can take risks on good ideas.

ECCI Innovation is...

  • Vision: Bringing together business, Government, communities and researchers to innovate and solve complex problems.

  • People: To bring about culture change and behaviour change are as important as new technologies.

  • Ideas: Society doesn't lack good ideas but what we often lack is their delivery.

  • Technologies: Information and material technologies are advancing radically, but this isn’t yet reflected in products, services and solutions that work.

  • Action: Bridging the gap between the good ideas and positive actions that will create a low carbon future.
