VIBES awards shortlist announced
The shortlist of winners for this years VIBES business awards will be announced today. The annual event celebrates the Scottish businesses taking significant steps to improve or reduce their impact on the environment.
Now in it’s 13th year, the VIBES Awards (Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland) recognise and showcase best practice across business sectors and aim ton encourage the efficient use of resources, enhance the competitiveness nof businesses, improve environmental performance and support the wider goals of sustainable development.
In keeping with the Centre’s focus on business innovation among Scottish SMEs, ECCI will sponsor the ‘Best Management’ award in the small and medium enterprise category. Previous winners include last year’s M Bruce and Partners Ltd, commended for their long-term commitment to sustainable land use with their efforts to leave a self-sustaining legacy on their farm; and 2010’s Clarks Contracts for their £8 million refurbishment project of an existing high school for Renfrewshire Council.
As well as sponsoring the SME Management award, the Edinburgh Centre is also offering half of day of free support to successful applicants in each of the award categories, as well as to previous winners and entrants. The successful candidates will receive expert advice from one of ECCI’s three Business Managers, whom each have a particular focus on and knowledge of two main ‘low carbon cluster areas’. These include: Carbon Finance, Carbon Accounting, Green ICT, Built Environment & Renewables, Sustainable Transport and Land Use, Water and Waste.
